Joe McGonigal, President

Joe McGonigal, ISO Food GroupJoe McGonigal is a 40-year veteran of the meat business. What began as an after school job at a small local butcher shop, turned into a lifelong career in the meat business.

Joe specializes in center-of-the-plate. His unique, in-depth knowledge of the components of a successful foodservice operation has helped hundreds of restaurants, hotels, and casinos thrive in today’s challenging business environment.

Having worked his way from butcher to the Vice President of Sales for a large regional meat processor, Joe understands the importance of addressing customers’ individual needs concerning product selection, quality, and cost.

Joe spent the last 12 years leading a team of meat specialists generating over $60 million in annual sales, a ten-fold increase during his tenure. As a strategic partner to one of the nations largest broad line distributors, Joe has been instrumental in the development of dozens of new products and concepts now commonly utilized successfully in restaurants, casinos and other institutions.

Outside of work, Joe spends most of his time with his wife, four children and their growing families, including three grandchildren. Sports, the outdoors and especially the beach are a welcome distraction.

Gene Gagliardi, Inventor

Gene Gagliardi, ISO Food GroupWhile not necessarily a household name, Gene Gagliardi has spent a lifetime as a creative force in the meat and food business. Gene has invented products that millions of consumers have carted to the checkout aisle and ordered at their favorite restaurant.

Having learned to cut meat at an early age in a family business in West Philadelphia, he began to realize that many cuts were underutilized in all meats, including poultry. The traditional cuts remained the same and very little innovative thinking had been applied in decades. Since the late 60’s, Gene has built a portfolio of more than thirty different patents, including three that have been enjoyed everywhere.

Steak-umm® was developed as a portioned, sliced, home version of the Philadelphia cheesesteak which has been both a national and international success. He also developed the Beef Value Cuts, including the Flat Iron Steak, Petite Filet and Ranch Steaks, which we are all familiar with.

Gene also invented Popcorn chicken. It still ranks as one of the most successful products launched by KFC.
